LAKHNU PROJECT
1. Provide hygiene education resources to improve value and knowledge of sanitation and hygiene;
2. Increase sanitation through implementation of infrastructure (toilets and drainage);
3. Implementation of management plans (including a sanitation committee) to ensure continued use and maintenance (thereby decreasing prevalence of diseases).
4. Increase school attendance and retention through improved school infrastructure and implementing changes in curriculum and support services to address challenges in a rural setting;
5. Increase equity of access for girls in schooling by promoting and educating the village in the benefits of girls attending school;
6. Build an Edu-Play facility to engage the girls of the village to become involved in education and play.
7. Workshop the design of household retrofits for improved ventilation, lighting and pest management;
8. Implement a series of demonstration retrofits on households, open to community.
9. Investigate ways of reusing and adapting the old school building as significant cultural heritage and for the promotion of education;
10. Promote village identity and human rights to culture;
11. Facilitate capacity building in conservation techniques and construction skills.
